Sign your life away ... with your iPhone
Ever been out and about and had a conversation on your mobile phone which involved a line similar to this:
"I'll send you the form in PDF. Print it, sign and return it to me and I'll get _______ going right away."
After you hung up, you thought "Great, now where do I find a printer and a fax machine / scanner?"
Well, if you have an iPhone, you won't have to worry!
You could just open your PDF file and in less than 5 keystrokes, put your signature on the document and send it back.
How to create a signature on your iPhone?
You do it via "Markup".
You can access "Markup" a few ways, the most logical and common ways are:
- Open the attachment (e.g. PDF), tap on it as if to share and click on the Markup icon (the toolbox icon on the right):
- Tap on the inline graphic to bring up the options and select "Markup":
Either way, you get to the Markup screen:
You can draw / write on it using the leftmost option.
You can magnify a certain section using the second leftmost option.
You can type text using the second rightmost option.
Or you can select / create a signature using the rightmost option.
After selecting to create a signature, the following screen appears:
Use your finger to sign. The screen is touch sensitive, meaning the harder you press on the glass, the darker your signature will be (as you can see from the "A" below).
If you don't like what you see, tap "Clear" and start again.
When you are happy with your signature, tap "Done" and the signature will be added to the attachment:
You can different signatures to Markup so that you can choose different ones for different occasions.
So for that PDF form you've just received in your email:
Open it up and enter "Markup" mode.
Tap on the "Text" option (second rightmost option) and type your response to the fields:
Move the typed text into the appropriate position on the PDF form.
Repeat until all fields entered.
Select the Signature option.
Select a pre-saved Signature.
Move it into the Signature field.
Tap "Done".
Send.
That's how you sign your life away...with your iPhone.
